I would say that is a rhetoric question, since the answer is
so obvious.

Who decides how long they remain a moderator? Is it some appointment for life? Can they abuse certain functions of the Forum, and remain one.

1 A member who is presented with a proposition to become a moderator, decides about it. You would be surprised how many turn that offer down. How we choose those members? By observing their general attitude towards others.

2 Other moderators moderate the moderators. So far we didn't have any quarrels with regards to that, and everybody usualy knows when mistake has been made (and takes it like a man).

3 When a moderator acts like an "*" member, he is treated like an "*" member.

4 A moderator is a member first, and unless he's using a smiley with addtional notification that it is a moderators intervention, his posts should be treated as regular member's posts.

5 Again, it was customary so far, that a member decides how long he is a moderator. When he feels that he can't perform his duties in objective manner, he resigns. With one exception, it was also the case that those members left the forum permanently.

If you read snakeoil stries the same way as you read other posts, I'm not suprised with your attitude.

It was Jocko who suggest I ignore you, and I was actually suggesting ignoring Fred. By that I didn't mean putting him on ignore list (I don't even know how to do that). I just choose not respond to his posts, that's all. I'm too curious to see what he writes (same about you) to put him on ignore list.

fine, that sorts of this thougt.

But does not change my qualms about interest conflicts in case a memeber is moderator and has economical interest in the boards topics.

Default We know what you were suggesting, Peter....

And why.

But since Till seems to agree with us cranky old fart capitalists, maybe you should treat him with the same disdain you show for some of us.

BTW......Till and I generally do not agree on philosophical matters, but we enjoy a cordial relationship.

He does have good taste in beer.............

I thought someone had elaborated a while ago that some members here are more equal than others.

and you are starting to figure out whom those members are,

Again, I don't think you have a proper understanding what a role of moderator on this forum really is.

The moderator is not here to set trends, impose opinions and present truths. The moderator is just a member who keeps things in order, he is a public servant who doesn't really have any special powers. He is a cleaner, who cleans others mess. He is a subject to critique the same way as any other member. His position is even worse from a regular member, because he has to act by example and can't always say what he really wants.

IMO memebers also are allowed to have an opinion what the role of a moderator is - or better - should be. Not only moderators.

Jocko, on the philosophy, how true. But without controversity no progress. Lernt from Hegel.

But i did not knew you are an old capitalist, could you please send me a small fraction of your millions of dollars over to old europe? you know, i´m a little short of this stuff, and some of those millions would help me to get a better capitalist.
