Santa's colour commercialized by syrupy US Corporate??

Six months off season, but the theory that I just heard:

Up to 1931, the traditional figure of Santa wore brown clothes, but in an advertising campaign that year the Coca Cola company depicted him in Coca Cola

colours, and he’s been red & white ever since.

Is that true?
