Default Ingrown facial hair : the joys of shaving :(

Hi,

Does anyone know how to get rid of ingrown facial hair ?

I've tried:-

-Tend skin (worked a bit at first)
-electric razor
-single blade razors
-double-blade razors
-triple blade razors
-loofah sponge
-tea tree oil
-badger brush for making foam

I get the ingrown hairs all the time

Anyone tried Magic shave?

Any tips ?

Cheers,

Ashley.

Have you tried them?

No, I haven't, the pink clashes with my mascara.

I got around the whole issue by growing a beard.

You can't beat a beard for carefree living. 10 seconds of electric shaver on the neck and upper cheeks, and your good to go. trim it once a week or so before the shower.

Tried products similar to that and they were very harsh on the facial skin ..... made the skin red and sore.....

It's an investment for sure but arguably the best solution in the end is a real safety razor with *real* shaving cream (not any of the foams / gels you buy in a spray can) applied with a badger brush that you soak for a minute in warm water and then shake the excess water out of.

Without doubt, this is a much steeper learning curve than most men are willing to go thru these days (after all, there are much simpler options for most men) but in my opinion it is worth the effort.

Yes there will be nicks, cuts, etc. in the beginning.... these things don't have pivot heads, springs, suspension etc. so just like the old barber shop guy, you have to develop the skills (hint: the good ones have quite a bit of weight in the head..... let the head apply the pressure to the skin .... DONT push the razor against your skin unless you like getting cuts) instead of the razor doing all the work for you...... but in the long run these are alot kinder on the skin once you get the process worked out.

Back in high school, one of my friends decided he was going to be lazy one day, and his mother decided he was not. She couldn't get him out of bed for anything, so she raked an epilady down the side of his calf. That got him up. Of course his leg had a big bald spot for weeks. I thought it was halarious...of course he didn't think it was too amusing. Lesson here is it's always good to listen to your mother. Oh yeah, and that treatment aperently works....although pain may be a side effect.
