Try being self-employed......
You have to pay the 7.65% of FICA taxes that the employer would have kicked in. Because you are the employer.
Yeah, I feel over-taxed. And over-regulated. Etc. Vacation?? None now. I work or I starve. Back when I had a real job, it had a very generous vacation plan. I had 5 weeks, but then I was there over 20 years. The jerks who bought it, capped it at 4 weeks. Didn't matter, as they fired all the people who had > 4 weeks. Then they ran it into bankruptcy.
