I'm pretty traditional but I do like the idea of a small colored LED embedded in an anodized solid aluminum knob like the Cayin amplifiers.
Since it's for a vacuum tube amp, wouldn't a neon lamp be more appropriate than an LED?

At least you weren't too chicken to say it.Hope I don't ruffle any feathers by agreeing that's a 'clucking' great knob Charles!
To my taste hard to find an better looking knob than the Cyclops from Odyssey:
Odyssey Audio: Cyclops integrated amplifiers. Call us (317) 299 5578. IN, USA.
A side its a great sound per the price.

That's one advantage of digital, now only a 2 man lift.4-man lift, though.
I loved the old analog mixers with their 100s of buttons, knobs and faders. Every gig you'd get some drunk come up beside you and say "Damnnnn, that's a lot of knobs." My answer was always "Yep, and I know what every one of them does." That always blew their minds.
Knobs look nice, but they are becoming less useful with modern devices that respond to voice commands or cell phone apps. I had an old prototype Sensation that I gutted to make a stereo 3-way "smart" amp controlled by an Android app, and I debated with myself whether to use the volume control and nice oversized knob. Ended up not using it--just no need for it.
