John, I'm very sorry to hear this and wish you the best. One of my dear friends just went through this (it was in his neck), but here he is a year later, full of **** and vinegar. Hope yours goes the same way.

It's a leiomyosarcoma, probably stage 2B on my upper left arm. We're trying to get into OH. States' sarcoma oncology unit for some sort of treatment protocol early next week.

Hopefully it may be early enough that no metastatic process...

John,

as much as losing a limb would be life changing if that is the final outome and you avoid any mestastices then you will have a much greater chance of having a life to change.

Wishing you luck and the most positive outcome you could wish for. Hoping limb loss is the absolute worst case scenario and just some crappy zapping takes care of this. You'll get a cancer tattoo, a little dot used for lining up the radiation machine. I wanted a bullseye but they didn't do requests

After reviewing the MRI , the oncologist feels he can resect the tumor without an amputation, as the mass seems tethered subcutaneous, and not to voluntary musculature or bone.

CT tomorrow to r/o mets, then surgical excision Monday with several days of wound evacuation , then skin graft, so full week at OSU cancer center for me!

All I keep thinking of is the Black Knight in Monty Python "It's just a flesh wound... and I'm not dead yet!...."

Wish me luck
