Default Really mad at work today... :cuss:



Been working my *** off, all of a sudden several of the machines start acting up and I have to go fix/troubleshoot complete mayhem as usual but I keep calm and keep fixing and improving things. The shift leader comes along and he tells me that I should stop using the computer and tend to the machines more. So basicly I am hearing that lazy lard *** soab telling me I am not doing my job after running around all day working harder than anyone else (I make a point out of it, I will never be the weakest link!). I yelled at him for 5 minutes then went to write my error reports on the computer, used the keyboard a bit too roughly, 1/3rd of the keys came off, and it's now more banana shaped. Just had to get it out. He's still not getting the f*****g point! Finally a coffee break now, will need to use the excercise room for a couple of hours when I am finished working....

Hahahaha... Many IT officers (and un/fortunately the non-technical management also) think that they are very useful and valuable when they have run all over the place fixing things. But that is wrong. Some even make use of the situation to show how others depend on them. That's criminal.

IT people should be given well defined performance metrics.

Get an IBM Model M keyboard. Typing on it extra hard won't hurt it. Also, if you get past The Breaking Point and end up banging it over someone's head, it WILL hurt, rather than a cheap lightweight keyboard bouncing off and exploding into a hundred useless pieces.

I see lots of assterisks in your post, I presume the forum is responsible for putting some of them in. That last sentence was a test to see if it does such substitution within a word.

Which reminds me - what do you call the part of an airplane where the pilot and copilot sit? The flight deck.

I tried really hard not to write any bad words, how can *** be a bad word? is **** a bad word? what about crap? what's the difference?

I started this job about 1 year ago, as opposed to the previous 5 years it is an industrial job. Gave up on traveling tech specialist to get predictable working hours and short way to work. Pay is even better because of the shifts. But as always there are some amounts of prejudice and gossip among certain employees and management. If you make good production numbers, do everything you should, extra emphasis on cleaning and maintenance, present accurate tests. Why do people always find some insignificant senseless reason to complain?

Yeah those model-m's are like tanks, or bricks rather. This was a lenovo something.

I really did not get your flight deck thingy until after a few minutes benb. We still use that other word here methinks. Just want to quote the most preferred yahoo answer to that question:

FWIW, *if* you were working for me, you'd be fired by now.
The Company can't trust such an unstable employee, even more if his job is important.
Your capacity to do damage is huge, even by inaction, so you are just a ticking bomb, waiting to explode.

You also clearly don't work along the rest of the team, nor fit-in big way.

I do understand your point, and would agree that your conclusions are valid based solely on the information I have posted in this thread.

Just want to point out that this is a first time ever for me to react in this way. I contribute, inaction is not something associated with my work ethics, I have no problem remaining calm in the most stressful of situations, this is when I thrive and evolve. My personal motto translates to something along the lines of "The world is cruel and unjust, make the best of it."

So that is what this boils down to, no matter what you give, achieve or accomplish there will always be someone at your side giving you hell for it. Once again my motto strikes true, and all is right with the world.
Just didn't see it in the heat of the moment.

Dear kaffimann, I didn't mean to be harsh with you, and understand your feelings, just wanted to mention how "the other side" would see it.
Maybe being an Industrial Engineer and having to see problems from "the management side" makes me to be acutely aware of this.
Sorry if I did sound harsh, it was meant with the best intentions.

And yes, I agree, working for "someone else" who usually does not understand or care *is* stressing, to say the least.
I can't stand it myself, so I built my (small but independent) Company.
No less stress, by the way, only it comes from other angles (Banks/Government/Unions/Taxes/etc.).
In a way, "sometimes" I envy those who suffer "9 to 5" (09 to 17hs in Europe) but can leave their problems behind when they leave.
I can't, even on vacations.
Oh well.

Once again I would agree on your conclusions based on the information I have posted in this thread alone.

The reasons behind the machines acting up is well and thoroughly documented, reported and brought up to management several times over a time span of years before my time, I assure you.

This is the very first time anyone have suggested I lack confidence. I greet people every day, keep up to date on the well being of my co-workers and try to be nice and polite in general. I do not take any crap from anyone, but hardly ever get angry or annoyed.

You assume I have a hard time dealing with criticism, but I would argue the opposite, I always strive to improve, and welcome criticism, make me see my faults and they will be corrected. I do not understand how to respond to compliments however, part of my glorious upbringing.

Maybe people just do not get me. I do not knowingly lie (This gives me a lot of difficulty). I can be very direct. I do not gossip. I have little or no prejudice towards anyone, everyone starts at the same place. Maybe the problem is aiming for my ideals.

Heheh! No worries, I read your post with valid interest and (hopefully) understanding.

I have had positions that where management/office. Have stopped caring what I work with long ago. As long as i try my best and can go home with a clear conscience, get paid, and my work rights are in order, I can work with anything.

The smiley at the end of my reply was honest and genuine, and so is this
