Default Peter Bergman, RIP

If you're roughly my age (late 50s) and had a rather countercultural adolescence, then you'll know the brilliant Firesign Theatre. Albums like "Waiting for the Electrician," "Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers," and "How can You Be in Two Places at Once" have permanantly warped millions of minds and greatly influenced comedy. Their albums were also amazingly dense audio treats.

Peter Bergman, founding member and unforgettable voice, died yesterday at the age of 72. Thanks for all of the memories.

Bummer. "Out of the fog and into the smog he walked into a sandstone building." "Ouch my nose."

Oh man hadn't thought of Fireside in a while.
Believe my lifelong belief "everything you know is wrong" came from them.
Truly counterculture.

Do you know about the Gathering? (Amen!)

I say, do you know about the gathering? (Amen!)

I say the Gathering of revolutionary forces at Reverend Willie's pad...

"And this big dog, see, with blinking lights, comes over the hill. I'm not a drinking man, Mr. Cox, but I swear to God I saw it!"

The flag at Commie Martyrs High School must be flying at half-mast!

Loved Firesign back then, from an almost 60 year old.

RIP Peter.
