Be nice, everyone.

Why visit Binghamton NY? Family duty, yanno. Because I grew up there, and my elderly mum, my siblings and their families are there. Winter, because Moondog's a winter sports person and it's an opportunity to go skiing with my brother. Now, because Moondog is trying madly to avoid a birthday, and it'll happen on the plane coming home (hence, losing that day!)

Wegmans is the best supermarket I've ever been to, runs ring around anything we have here in Australia...I would not hang out there though!

Cortese...eh. I prefer Little Venice, but the ethnicity in the town is part of how I grew up. Give me spiedies from Sharkeys!

Given a choice, I'd rather go somewhere else but you do what you gotta do. It's a great town to use as a base, and travel around. After all, it's only an hour and a half to the finger lakes, and three to NYC

:-)

I'll be sending my daughter your way as a graduation gift. I expect her to look up the Perth's Golden Egg and a Pavlova.

Way over the other side of the country, but if she is coming to Melbourne we are happy for her to drop in and say "Hi-ya"

Hey Moondog, hope you enjoy your visit to our side of the planet! As one member mentioned, check out the McIntosh factory, I would love too! Going to Corning to check out the Corning glassworks is cool. I went there in the early 80's with my parents.

As Suntechnik said, Montauk Point is great, but it's a long drive from where you are. Lake Placid is a bit closer, but still a haul. I would get a room in Lake Placid if you went there. And if you are willing to drive further, you can come freeze with us here in Vermont! Right now we don't have much snow, but we have some really great beer! (Some of the ski areas are open).

Happy Christmas,

Dave Gerecke

I can certainly recommend Vermont since I grew up there. You can also come west a bit and visit the wineries around the Finger Lakes. I live a bit further west in Canandaigua where we have the wine and culinary center, plus a variety of other attractions, though this isn't the best time of year for such things. Victor has The Analog Shop, a small high end dealer. Rochester has Renissance Audio, a turntable and specialty/vintage shop. It's also the home of Ashly Audio, Marchand and Belles, but they probably don't have showrooms. I went to Wegmans today and it was shoulder to shoulder, though the service is so good I was in and out in just a few minutes.

finger lakes is on the list, just looking for a nice and reasonably priced B&B.

Yes, winter is off to a slow start this year. I'm perfectly happy with that; we haven't had a mild winter here is a long time. We'll probably be neck deep in it by mid January though.

G'Day Moondog, I wish I could host, but between the bloody mess and the miscellanous speakers, etc. I don't think anyone beside myself would fit in this little hovel.

I could definitely show you around the area if you do show your face up here, especially here in Burlington, as I live right in town.

I know what you are saying about the weather, it has been a bit warmer than it usually is this time of year. I'm going to enjoy it as long as I can, it means that much longer that I don't have to clear my driveway of snow!

Peace,

Dave
