lol. I dunno. I have seen in my readings on the site about 5 posts of people saying things like "Shame on those darn red things" etc. It just seemed like a theme to me, though I may be mistaken.

It must be referring to the often red pcbs sold online that are copies (IP theft) of famous circuits (often Pass Labs).

IP theft aside, IMO, if your going to pay a boardhouse more, most charge a bit extra for a different color than the standard green, I would do black w/white silk, or gold plated copper and clear solder mask w/red silk.

In the commercial world, some companies use various colors of solder mask to identify prototype/pre-production/developmental PCB assemblies, but the specific details are entirely set by internal "house rules" and not standardized in any sense.
