I figured some here might like this: some neat panoramic high resolution images from the national ignition facility.
I had the opportunity to tour the Nova laser facility when the NIF was just being planned, with the 8 beams of nova being something of a test for NIF's 192. I still think that the Lawrence Livermore Labs are just about the most awesome place on earth even though I'm no longer 15. |

Smashing, I love big machines. My niece is in her first year at uni doing physics and maths, and her department has ties to CERN. I'm gently nagging her to go work there, so I can get a guided tour.
