Just got my very first soldering station after limping it with a $7 iron for the last 6 years. Can't wait to put it to use!
It's a GOOT RX-711AS that I scored on e*ay for $88. It's a used unit, but in very goot shape and cost me about half of what a new one sells for. I also bought enough replacement HAKKO tips to last me the rest of my life, literally. What you say, did I get a goot deal?

Ahhh, soldering. I've done so much of it I automatically wash my hands extra goot to limit lead exposure after a long spell in a circuit simulator.

I've been soldering since high school, and I can tell you that there is no tool as satisfying as a temperature-controlled soldering iron, especially when one has grown used to one that is not temp-controlled. A wise investment indeed!
