Spent some time in Dallas this weekend. My daughter made the state competition for the cupcake battle against 17 other high school students. We even had time for a little scandal in the competition.

We stopped off in West, Texas yesterday, site of the fertilizer explosion. Town seems to be rebounding from the tragedy and the supply of fruit kolaches is unstoppable! My wife hates them because she can't eat just one.

But old enough to remember Tommy (and seen the Who on that tour, with Jethro Tull as an opening act).

Mmmm, kolaches! Haven't had them since I left Austin, but the Mexican bakery down the street has some things that are awfully similar.

Didn't that violate the conditions of your parole?

Not me either, I meant wicked uncle Ernie, fiddling about. I watched "My Three Sons" religiously along with "Beverly Hillbillies", "Petticoat Junction", "McHales Navy", "Batchelor Father", etc.

Yes, I thought the "Who?" was particularly clever. Especially from a guy who's so old his birth certificate is actually written in stone.

Yes, but they should have known better! Thankfully, you ignored that whenever I came over.

Scott - Meredith Macrae fan, eh?

jacco - I was his paper boy and he kept inviting me in for a snack.

Ya know, when the Who were around, I think I hadn't even learned to add numbers yet. Just sayin'

I picked up some chipotle peppers in adobo sauce today.
Along with the Frugal Gourmet(s), there was also "Mr. Food" Art Ginsberg, who passed away late last year.
