Probably just the times. How does a speaker maker differentiate themselves enough to keep their own unique customer base? I have a pair of Snell K's (the last ones designed by Peter Snell). I have always liked the sound.

I use a pair of JII's as bench speakers they are very good indeed.
They are kind of wasted there.

The Audio Note speakers are more or less Snells. The kits are a bargain. This is DIY, after all.
