So the key is to build something that's efficient. It's actually easier to get a higher rated power efficiency at higher power levels. Idle power usage is much harder to keep down, but tricks like dynamic supply voltage can help you.

Obama Girl makes me see the light. Time to dump that crazy 2A3 SE on the bench for a 304TL PSE with 8008 rectifiers in bridge. Yikes.

Star baby, you are becoming a broken record on the hybrid thang - every post...it's getting oldish. Read my thoughts on the subject HERE.

Funny how most of those big SUVs are driven (my observation) by women.

With snap-on plastic side panels in various colours, so she can match it to her outfit.

The best is to build a mini-system for her. Complete with speakers and ipod dock of course.

I think it's a manifestation of penis envy. I'd better add a to that thought.

I've been married thirteen years now, the missus STILL can't redirect my pre-amp sources. So...keep it extremely simple ON/OFF, Volume..that's about it....any more controls & they get flustered.."Can you turn it on for me?"
Be it glowing tubes or Gigantic Heat-sinks...one has to make it simple....a primer on operation...you can give to her, but complexity "I don't want to learn" is something beyond them.

Just because it's a hybrid doesn't make it amazing. It needs to be designed well. Hybrid just happens to be a good way to design a large amplifier. But you can also use a pure digital design. In theory, it is better than hybrid if you're starting with a digital source.

It is not fair to compare hybrid cars/bicycles to hybrid digital amplifiers. Both are known as hybrids as they combine two technologies to make the best of them, but that's about it. How they combine the technologies is not even similar. A hybrid car or bicycle is more or less a regular car or bicycle with an electrical drive system added to it. A hybrid digital amplifier, however, is not merely a digital amplifier with some analog circuits or an analog amplifier with some digital circuits. It uses an output stage very similar to that of a digital, but the circuit driving it is very unlike the ones in either digital or analog. It is really a completely different technology.

Solar power is something else that will help. It's just another way to show that you're going green.

I would suggest adding a RS-485 control bus so source devices can select the correct channel automatically. Or build a complete media machine with touchscreen where all you have to do is turn it on and make a few simple selections.
