The point was that they can't lose the money that was never going to be paid anyway. But like I said, that doesn't make copying ok, just that it's not stealing. As to the example of Chinese clones, the original manufacturer does indeed lose money, since every clone sold is a unit that could have been sold by the OM (maybe not for the full price, but sold never the less).
