I'm sorry for your trouble. Maybe a tinnitus? I have a kind of this noise in both my ears. Please let me recommend to consult an otolaryngologist.

Hello
I finally found a doctor who take time to look at my ear, there is liquid inside my left ear, so he prescibe me Avamys to open the channel between my ear and my nose cavity. It should take a month to work, so in october I will see if I have silence or that same wistle noise in my ear. Bye Gaetan |

i have the same thing off and on in both my ears, usually when i'm either dehydrated or my sinuses are plugged from hay fever. not a lot i can do over the short term for the second one but wait, the first however is easily cured, drink lots of water. i live in a climate where dehydration is a constant. it's so dry here you get dehydrated just by breathing.
the flu is another cause of dehydration. as a matter of fact, if you drink twice as much water as you think you need while you have the flu, your headaches and muscle aches would be a lot less painful.

I also had an annoying noise in my ear that just wouldn't go away. A divorce lawyer cured that.
