Hi.

My company, part of a multinational, is looking for electronics engineers for interesting work in the oil and gas exploration industry, measuring the earth's gravity and magnetic fields.

You can be based anywhere in the world although the company is located in Houston.

The job is fairly simple (and at times boring!! ) as the equipment is very reliable. Involves mobilising/demobilising and operating the equipment on board survey vessels. Occaisional repair / reprogramming is required.

Approx. equal time offshore / at home with trips from 6-10 weeks.

Yep. Good pay, worldwide travel, all the food you can eat!
1 day off for each day worked.

Why is an engineer required for this? Is there a seven figure equity piece in this by any chance?

Yes. I'm curious as well. It's not as if you can phone RS and get an air drop of transistors and op amps for board level repairs. Or can you?

CYA. If things go wrong, even if there's nothing he could do about it, the company can say, "Oh, well we HAD an engineer there!" I have a friend who did this for two years, then took the money home and bought a house for cash.

In the 70's it was the Alaska pipeline, I had a friend who cleaned the slate with a two year stint. One mate forgot to fillup and didn't make it.
