It can run for hours at 20 metres per minute without getting tired. It lives longer, has more sex, and eats more without gaining weight. Could the science that created this supermouse be applied to humans?
By Steve Connor, Science Editor Published: 02 November 2007 Scientists have been astounded by the creation of a genetically modified "supermouse" with extraordinary physical abilities – comparable to the performance of the very best athletes – raising the prospect that the discovery may one day be used to transform people's capacities. The mouse (pictured on the front page) can run up to six kilometres (3.7 miles) at a speed of 20 metres per minute for five hours or more without stopping. Scientists said that this was equivalent of a man cycling at speed up an Alpine mountain without a break. Although it eats up to 60 per cent more food than an ordinary mouse, the modified mouse does not put on weight. It also lives longer and enjoys an active sex life well into old age – being capable of breeding at three times the normal maximum age. American scientists who created the mice – they now have a breeding colony of 500 – said that they were stunned by their abilities, especially given that the animals came about as a result of a standard genetic modification to a single metabolism gene shared with humans. http://news.independent.co.uk/sci_te...cle3121157.ece I'm not sure it's good to have a colony of mice like that in existence, if the effect is, shall we say, properly genetic. It appears to be so, with the 'breeding colony' of 500. This, in terms of one escaping. Just one. He said: "We could spot them at just a few weeks after birth. They popped around the cage like popcorn. We found that they were about 10 times as active as ordinary mice."

When they get loose, we will need super cats to catch them
But seriously, think of the money sporting leagues would pay for this technology to be applied to humans

nobody is looking at this thread.
That's not unusual. Folks seem to have no understanding that this colony of 500 mice represents something that can be as harmful to the world at large, as any given pile of nuclear weapons. This is damned serious. This is where genetic manipulation is going. The tip of the iceberg. Now, to add. Speaking with friends in the medical patent industry, directly involved in such work and specific patents in question: A research facility finds a PERFECT cure for a given type of Cancer. WORKS EVERY TIME. 100% success rate. Patent is bought and removed in existence by major drug companies, or HMO's. This is very serious, and 100% real. This has happend many, many times. Happens every day, in case you fell asleep at the reality wheel. This is one of the holes the promise of the future is dissappearing into.

it's too close to me. People have been harrassed and worse..for far less. So, no names, no #'s. It's like when Hill folk and insiders speak 'legally' out of turn. The kind of thing that can be spoken of in private, but not given out publically, to just anyone.
If I knew you personally, and for some time, then yes, I might give names, dates, and places.

I think your logic is flawed. I would take a perfect cure for cancer anytime and worry about the rest later. Any company thinking they can keep a discovery under wraps is deluded. See what happens to nuclear weapons technology. If there ever was a motive to keep the technology under wraps. There's no stopping determined nations to join the club. Jan Didden

I'll admit it's a challenge, but if my efforts fail, the famous BettyLu is only 20 minutes from here.
