Default ramblings

i feel my soldering skills need improving. i see Jameco has an SMT rig, that with a full set of tips would cost $900. i've seen some DIY designs on the MAKE site, which look like they won't work right.

i'm trying to finish a decent FM/AM antenna. i'm going to use a vertical. the old saying is that they radiate equally poorly in all directions. they are still king for transmitting on 1800 khz.

the caffeine is starting to kick in, and it's time to build something.
