I just bought an Elmo a305 MH projector on eBay. It came in and it isn't even close to being as bright as my 3M 9200 projector. Without the panels on the 9200 makes the Elmo look like a VERY dim flashlight. Is it just a bad bulb or does this projector just not live up to all the hype?
The color is whiter so I assume it has a better color temp but the brightness just isn't there.

Its old and I think I got ripped off. I was told there were 200 hours on the 750 hour bulb. Surely it doesn't get dim that quickly does it?

The bulb is a 575W GS and is mounted directly under the Fresnel with a condesor behind it. Shouldn't this be SIGNIFICANTLY brighter and better than a FXL bulb reflected through a mirror?

well i thought the 9200 was one of the better OHP as far as brightness but im unsure about the elmo have you looked up the bulbs lumens rateings ? that and the old bulb may only have 20 hours left ... but even then my bulb is only rated for 75hours and its been used beyond that and its still great my bulb is a 600watt holagon code dys its in a old old buhl model 80 OHP i got for $10 bucks and paid 11 for the new bulb sooo if youres is going dim than it sprolly got very few hours left or its just not as bright as the other id go look up there lumens rateings asap

The bulb is rated at something like 39000 lumens but the Elmo projector says it puts out 7900 lumens. The 3M 9200 is rated at 3500 lumens

I am thinking of buying the same projector. so i was wondering if you had any success with a new bulb.
because metal halide bulbs have a half-life (the time in which the light output becomes half of the original output). The 3200 bulb is a halogen bulb. thes bulbs dont have a half life . but they have a very little life to begin with and explode when they die. Would you recommend me this projector based on your personal experience with it? |
