Default Retrofitting Bulbs in a older OHP ?

I recently completed my LCD projector. I am using a old 3m 522 and so far I am very happy with the results however the 50 bulb life of these bulbs is a big concern of mine.

I would like to retrofit a newer style bulb into this OHP but after seaching around I really dont know what bulb to use or if I should just run a metal halide bulb in this. What would you recommend for that would be as bright as my current bulbs and have a fairly long lifespan.

Thanks
