here's a quick question for all the experts out there...
how much of a difference in image birghtness would clear bulb make over a coated bulb? i just finished a 7" projector with the Innovatek 007vg (very easy to work with), and im currently using a 175W MH setup that i got for a very good price.. the only problem is that it came with a coated bulb.. the projector still needs alot of tweaking (ill post some pics once thats done) but ive found to image to be bright enough for "small" screen application (~60").. since ill mostly be using it at this size, and only occasionally going for a BIG screen, i was just wondering how much of a difference there would be between a clear and coated bulb... now i understand the theory and physics behind the ideal point-source/fresnel/paralel-light-wave set-up, but if the difference is something like 5-10%, ill save my money for now (new bulb is about 40 bucks, and im running low on funds).. if however, we're talking about a >30% difference, then ill bite the bullet, and pick up a new bulb... thanks for any info you guys can provide.. zedmore |

I haven't tested any coated bulb. but if "point-light-source" theory holds for true, coated bulbs will be much less efficient.
