And this in here and on Google
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sharp QA-1200 LCD Overhead Projection Panel
Has a 150:1 ratio, 1.7 million colors,
8.4 inch active matrix TFT LCD Screen
with 640x480 and 720x486 resolution

It has a Composite "RCA" input for video
and mini phono plug for sound input
with input for VGA - Works on a Standard
12v powersuply with a standard barrel tip

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I just wanted to check if this info is correct
because I just ordered one off of ebay for
$55 with shipping it has a cable but the cable
has a 25pin on one end and 9pin on the other
is that the computer control cable ?? what was
it used for - will it work with standard VGA cables
for the video - I did not get a remote but from I
read here there is a control panel and most if not
all can be done whit it

I also did not get a manual but I think I can do with out

I know that now I need a projector with 4000+ lumens
And less for a small room - but I get the brighter one
I can get them from the state for like $20 - 30

I have a bad problem, the room I want to use it in is
small real small - 12" by 12" Foot and out of that 5" by 7"
is my bathroom - I got space for a bed, 2 computers,
and a the back seat of a van - it was free

I guess I am asking how to deal with the small space
how far away from the wall does the projector need to be
what are my options as far as mounting the projector

I do have a old projector screen from the 8mm days -
will it work good, I think its a 4x4 or 5x5 foot it might be
bigger long ways

I have another problem the Second computer is my PVR
I have no TV just a 20in computer monitor and I guess
I need to get a VGA splitter and extra long VGA cable
I dont want to use the Projector all the time
just when I rent some DVDs or have friends over

Here is the problem with that - look at the pic,
I may have to tear down the bathroom wall and
closet and put things at a angle

I have lived in this small place for about 8 years
I will build a House / metal storage building
and Have more room - but for now what to do

I dont live in a rented place - its mine So I can do
what I want - plus in a year or 2 I start on the
new House - You can bet when I do, I am going
to make room just for a theater with all the trimmings

Oh and what is the bigest this LCD will project and still look
good / clear

I have not got it yet in the mail - guess I am just excited

You can go to my web site at http://www.geocities.com/astro_van_1985
and click on "My Computers" to see my computers
and some of my room and how it is now
- no projector stuff yet

Thanks

I can confirm this. I am waiting for my qa-1200 also. ebay link below. (with pics of inputs)

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5122220143&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

waiting holding my breath for this also. good luck with yours. I can scan you a copy of the manual when I get it. (and if posible I will upload it to this thread).

the 25 pin cable will go from the panel to a standard plug that comes from a video card.

will help you with other info if I can, but you will probably get yours before me anyhow.

good luck again :)

ok I got mine. it works and I am one very happy camper.

Looks better than I ever expected even on my tired old overhead (its so beat up that the lenses dont quite lines up properly). I dont have that damn 25 pin cable though so I am stuck with rca input at the moment, still - very impressed.

I got a pic here just to keep you hungry. This was the initial set up, on just a white wall. 14" tv for size reference. Projection distance about 7 feet. I will take some better shots on the old pull down screen I am using too (the similarities of our set ups is uncanny) and at night. The digi-cam had no batteries and I only got off a couple of shots before it refused to power up again.

Definately does "1.7 million colors, 8.4 inch active matrix TFT LCD Screen with 640x480 and 720x486 resolution" contrast is really good at night. Funnily enough it has a setting to choose between 1.7 million and 4096 colours in the menu, I swear the 4096 looks just as good. I even reckon the little speaker is ok lol.

Any people who have 220-240 volt power systems in your country, the power supply will not work on anything other than 110. Just use a pc power supply though. (with tip on a yellow molex wire, and the casing on a black). Anyone who wants a free original usa style power supply for one (with a cut off plug though) email me. You pay postage.

Good luck again will.

ok I got mine. it works and I am one very happy camper

Glad to hear that I am still waiting on mine

Found a Apollo OHP its a 15000 takes a EYB 82V 360w
lamp - I said s(r3w that and got a 300w halogen yard light
and riped the old stuff out and did a retrofit - works
good - the 300w lamp said 6000 lumans ? I did not think
they were that high - its the long type lamp

The OHP has mirror on top and 2 Fresnel Lens - I herd that was bad,
but I got it for $15 and it looks brand new

And when I retrofited there is a small amount of rainbow and
just a hint of a dark line were the lamp is - I guess the lamp
is not centerd or is not far away enough from the 2 Fresnel Lens
but it still works good - I will just be looking for something better
plus this one is all plastic so its easy to take with me, its real light

The Apollo still has its stock reflector - its about 1 and 1/2 inch
around and about 1 inch deep - and was about 1 inch from the
lamp - I will replace it with a small metal bowl - when I find one
The new lamp is the long type - Look at the pic - any Ideas

I did remove the voltage limiting parts to use the 120v lamp

I fixed the rainbow and other problems - I moved the lamp into the
center - and made a reflector out of square a piece of metal an
made it into a "V" shape - Now its just white, no bad spots -
well except - were the metal was cut - that little piece was cut out,
- and its hard to tell its just a little darker there

And now all I have to do is find a better piece of metal

I removed part of the bathroom wall - removed the closet
had a huge pile of wood - put black sheet on the ceiling
side wall and used a black sheet for the bathroom door
and also put a black sheet on the wall - and used a
white bed sheet for the projector screen - looks good
but I want to clean it up before I take pictures - I live
in a old trailer house thats older than me and it looks like
crap - holes in the walls floors ect - thats why it took so much
time had to rip out the floor and replace

Just found out today that they just shipped it :[ and
it will be here Wednesday

I now need to fix a problem - I cant set the projector close
to the screen it would be in the way for the screen -
I need to have it far away from the screen - It seams
like that at 12 foot away from the wall it projects a 12
foot square - I need a 6 foot square at 12 foot away from
the wall - I read about getting a unused eyeglass lens thats
-1 dpt - a lens thats not yet cut for eyeglasses - is there
any thing I need to know, or will that work - thanks

I wanted to improve the reflector that I made,I got looking
around for a small metal bowl or reflector of some kind,
the V-Shape worked but was not perfect -

I had old spray paint cans and some were almost empty -
I looked on the bottom of the can - its a bowl shape
- I sprayed all the air out of the can and used a can opener
to remove the bottom of the can - I used a file to make
notches for the lamp to set down into the reflector - I
then used pipe strap to hold the reflector to the lamp
- I just hope it does not melt or over heat the lamp
- I dont think it will with the fan

I tried for about 30min with it on - I could smell the metal
heat up - the reflector - but thats normal is burning off paint
residue

here is what it looks like now - its just a little better than it
was

Your an ideas man will!
yep thats what you do when you ant got
no $$$ - I you do use the paint can bottom
use a sand paper or a wire wheel - they put
a clear coat of paint that you cant see and
its thick - you will know if it turns brown from
heat, that you did not get the paint off the reflector

I was adjusting the bed sheet and smudged dust on it - them I
dropped it on the floor and it got dirty - I thought, crap how am
I going to clean this - I live out in the woods down a dirt road
and each week sweep up about a pound or 2 of fine sand/silt
and - thats just in my bed room - with all the doors, window, ect
closed and AC running with 3 air filters- in a 13 1/2 foot by
13 1/2 foot room - dust gets in every thing - Floppy disks
last 1 or 2 uses

Well any way, I need something that cleans easy - I got that
shower curtain and looked it over good - I had to use a Heat Gun
to get the wrinkles out - its like a Hair Drier that could melt
your head - I guess its not so bad - But In the morning I am
going to a Hardware Store and see what they have

I am going to look at
Drywall
White foam sheets
any thing white in a sheet
PVC panel for bathrooms

I get the Projector screen tomorrow

Well - I got the panel and it works - but my OHP is crap
and no ware bright enough

I had some overhead transparencies and was using that
to gauge the brightness of the OHP

The OHP worked great with the old school transparencies
but the with the LCD Panel it was to dark to see well, even in the
dark, and I got a blurring of lighter colors that could be removed by
pulling on the Focus arm of the OHP

I guess the 300w halogen is just not got enough power - But even
with that it was heating my room up real bad - I have the AC on
and after 30min of using the projector it was 10+ degrease hotter

I am thinking about using the OHP for parts - I will try one last time
to fix the OHP - I spent all night trying different ways for the light
to be placed and also the reflector - It looks like the way I had it
was ok except for not enough light - so I will try a soup ladle
for a reflector - I still not sure why the white stuff on the screen
was blurry it may be how I had the light or reflector - I was getting it
even without the reflector - and every way I tried the light -

I think my reflector needs rethinking - and my light source

I am thinking about using a metal halide - but dont have any $$$

Lets see I spent about $100 + or - so far - If I spend any more
I should have just got the kit or got a used projector

I will try to get one more OHP I can get them cheap
but it will be 2 weeks before I can get one if they have
any

I still may make a box and put the OHP parts in it- I like the Idea
of the box, It lets me control things better - Like the light

The Sharp QA-1200 seams to work at 800x600 at 60 Hertz

The unit has "COMPUTER IN" and "MONITOR OUT"

The "COMPUTER IN" connects to the computer

The "MONITOR OUT" connects to a monitor

the cable is not just normal wires - use a regular
VGA cable and cut one end off - the video signal
wires have to be extra shielded and the cable itself
has 2 choke coils one on each end

Here is a pin out - use at you own risk - I made it my self

what does seems to work mean? I'm pumped here lol, need more info!
Where did you get a db26 connector from?
You seem pretty clued on... do you know what the extra connectors are next to the video connections but covered by the plastic? (If you haven't had it apart, you will know what I mean when you do) they are kinda the same sorta shape as S-video but they are different.
Its hopefully will do 800x600 because it is based on the same gear as the 1650 (I think) you can see where the pcmcia slot would connect to the board and stuff.

Glad to hear the panel works too!

extra connectors are next to the video connections

Mine only had a emty space on the pcb bord, no connectors - but
I see were they would have been

the 26 pin connector is called DH26 I just looked it up on google

here is a place that has them in the usa - you will have to
do a web search to find one local

http://www.connectworld.net/cgi-bin/iec/DH26MS

It does work at 800x600 60 Hertz - but with my projector
not working to well - the screen might have cut some off -
I could see every thing fine - but I am not shure - if might have
cut just a very small amount from the around the edge of the
screen

I only tryied a few times at that rez and it looked fine
