i wan to know , can you get a metal halide setup andf put it into a ssecond hand projector (retro fit a new globe and balast and put it into the case of a lcd projector)
the projector i want to use is a xv-350H sharp the bulb it currently uses is a 250w metal halide. can i get a normal halide bulb and put it into the projector or do i have to fork out $300 to watch a movy with 400 lines of horizontal resolution???? its a bad projector but if i buy it it is cheaper than building one... also is it possibe to use a crt monitor for a projector and get a decent amount of light output? |

Its not easy, or in some cases even that effective, but it can be done. Link Because of the amount of work, and the resulting brightness problems, I'm not sure if its worth it. Interresting project none the less though.

I would look into building a projector. You could probably find a projection panel and overhead on ebay for less than $300. I was able to snag a Proxima Ovation +944 for $65 and a buhl 108 for $60. |
