neon starter help

My system & neon pulse starter

A new subscriber.

I have "built" several panel/OHP systems. My fav uses a sharp QA-1500 panel and ELMO HP-A305 OHP.

The panel provides excellent deep colours and the OHP has a 575W UMI 575/GS MH lamp. (750 hrs ~7000 lumens, very bright)

I would not hesitate in recomending either of these devices for home theater use.

I do have a question that someone might help me with. The OHP stopped working. The bulb is new. I narrowed it down to the neon starter (lamp?) in the ballast. it has a hole in it, so was pretty easy to diagnose! Does anyone know where I might find a replacement? Will a generic neon lamp with the correct voltage rating (~600v) work?

I understand that neon signs use similar starters, is this true?

Any suggestions in obtaining such a device would be appreciated.
