Default Stripping a Vusys HD14a 1200x800 LCD

A while back i got a Vusys HD14a and it turned out to be a really good panel for build a projector. The resolution is 1280 x 800, there is also a 1280x768 edition but i got lucky. It's a 14.1" widescreen so the width is pretty much the same as a regular 15" XGA screen so no need for fancy wide angle lenses.

The screen is pretty nice, one of those glossy finish types. The first thing i noticed was it's only backlit from one edge and the viewing angle is poor. I took it apart and suprise suprise it's a laptop screen with a LVDS controller board. It's perfect for an LCD projector! The flat connectors are all along one edge and being a laptop display there's a nice long wire to the controller board (which is very small). I'm just wondering if I can find any smaller LVDS screens i can hook upto it?!

I looked up the controller chip and it's a Genesis gmZAN3SL, from what i've read so far it's capped at 1280 x 1024 resolution

The best bit is you can pick them up new for about £70!

Have done anything else with this lcd? Have you hooked it up to any other inputs or just been using it with a pc? Looks like a good deal to me!
