I want to make a digital photo frame and I have two ideas.
1. I have a portable 3.5" HDD media player that will accept media cards and a USB connection. also uses a remote and a very nice and easy to use GUI. plays divx and mpeg movies, mp3s and photo slideshows. upside - remote, easy to use gui, easy enough to add photos using sd card or usb cable. silent, HUGE harddrive possible downside - resolution is only 640x480, sloppy with 3 power supplies inside (if using powered speakers) 2. motherboard with silent pico powersupply, flash drive for harddrive, usb wifi. and either usb remote or wireless keyboard/mouse combo. upside - upgradable, much higher resolution, wirelessly update photos or use web, more likely to be difficult to downside - fan on processor produces some noise, extra room inside needed for two bricks (pico powersupply and lcd monitor), flash drive has small capacity. Has anyone else tried one of these solutions? Is there an easier way to share the power supplies b/w the monitor/speakers/computer than a minipower bar inside the frame? Thanks. |
