How easy would it be to take an LCD TV with video inputs and everything, and strip it down and place on an overhead? As long as I keep everything in tact won't this work with any LCD?
Would a regular LCD wash out less brightness than a projection panel? |

I see that there is a compatible moniters list posted on the top of the page, does that mean that only certain monitors are able to be stripped down without getting ruined? I have an OHP, and a projection panel but might want to upgrade to a better resolution monitor.
My main question is, could I just strip down any LCD and have it placed over my OHP and have a projector? Obviously I'd have to get the right size and everything. But there are many high res lcd monitors on eBay selling for under $100, I am probably willing to pay that much for one. |

Just in case you don't already know this the actual resolution of that is 480x234. They are counting dots as pixels, very common.
As for using for projection you should check out some of the results with small low res lcds and see what you think. I did some testing with a 5.6" and had a very nice picture at 4' diagonal. It's really a matter of personal preference. I haven't built mine yet because of lcd problems but think you can do it with this one. |

I'm really trying to upgrade, going from my 800x600 lcd to a 430x whatever isn't really what I had in mind. Now I've been thinking about it and would be fine with any lcd monitor. As long as it has a pretty high resolution.
Also another question I have is this. My projection panel is really dark and kind of has a tinted sort of glass window over the LCD. This makes the picture appear to not be so bright and vibrant. If I got an LCD from a monitor would I have the same effect? Or would it be much brighter? |
