I just bought this monitor off of ebay. I was wondering if anyone had tried to strip a dell monitor like this one before. As you can see the price was right so even if I cant use it for this project I won't be disappointed. Thanks in advance

This monitor uses a LM151X2-B2PH panel which is similair as LM151X2 made by LG (philips)
And you will need a longer flex cable to connect vertical and horizontal boards mounted on lcd. Kickstarter. |

thanks a ton kickstarter. One more question. Has anyone ever taken this or the LM151X2 apart? Do you know what size flex cables are required for extending both boards. I would take it apart myself but im actually using it as a second monitor right now while i order my parts. Thanks.

Why not use the Lillipput 7" XGA screen 1024x768, its the one ace uses i also have one, seems a good option if you want a small projector,
i have light kit if you want one |

Thanks Well I dont know anymore how long these cables are, this type monitor is out of production now, and almost a year ago out of warranty also. I work at a repair centre of dell so i have had many of this type in my hands. Oh now occurred to me there are two more type panels used in this monitor so i am not sure what type you do having in your monitor. Toshiba LTM15C430 and Sharp LQ150X1DG12. I do also not know if these are easily stripable... succes |

Hi Kickstarter,
Loke33 i don't have any knowledge of the dell 15". But was wondering if kickstarter has any information about another monitor, the Dell 2001FP. It has an LG lcd panel inside, have the number, but not handy at the moment. I have a couple of these and they are very nice, but i hate to pry or mark up the case to take them apart, no screws. Also, have fresnels to fit. Kickstarter, is there a way to find out if this has flex cable problems, or does Dell service have blow apart repair diagrams of the case and panel? Tried to email you, but you have that function turned off. Tony |

Captains log, Supplemental,
In a few weeks, I, will be traveling, to the, inner depths of, the dell 532OU, to boldly go where, so i think, no one has gone before. Thank you, kickstarter, for the, information, about, this panel. Anyone else, who, may be able to, give any, information, about, this panel, please feel free to, post, on this, thread. Thats my best captain kick impression in text, sorry if it was annoying but i felt it appropriate. Also, good question Mr. Dean. Any help from dell repair is going to be good help. |

TonyDean,
I couldnt believe my eyes.....are you really going to use a 2001FP as a projector??? This is a brand new monitor 20 inch size with composite and s video input. It is really a beauty model. It cost 899 euros !! you better buy a professional DLP beamer wich can give better results then you 2001fp as a beamer. I dont think there are no fresnel's of 20 inch size!! A case would be big as a television, even bigger ! This is a brand new model ,former model was 2000FP made by Acer. I havent yet have this model in my hands maube son when the first one goes defective. There has a korean or chinese dude come over here to instruct us about this model. If you really want this you have to wait for monday ,then I ll look for this model and thake some apart.(take pictures perhaps) But the most modern panels are easy to strip. Any way I do not recommed use this monitor for a PJ project because of the big size. Kickstarter |

One question from you i have not answered and that is about opening case. Well I think that is the same way of most Dell models with no screws; First remove the stand. Go stand behind the monitor. put your fingers at the front bezzel and your thumb on the backcover. Push the front outwards and the back to the middle of the screen. Then you will hear a click or crack and the lips inside come loose. Then is it easy to remove the front (lcd and chassis are mounted in rearcover). Take Caution about a small part (pcb) where the front buttons is located and a small cable can be disconnected. Then see for your selves what you do. Loke33, go boldly go where i have been before ...and see it is a easy monitor to open.(this one have screws !) When you take out Power module out the swivel (stand) watch out for a metalic part (heatsink) there a dangerous voltages even the power is switches off...or you will beamed out temporaraly of the reality...(or something) Go live long and prosper, Kickstarter |
