Default is this fixable or should i trash it

I have a gateway 17" LCD screen that works most of the time but sometimes likes to flicker . LCD isn't cracked, and when it works it looks great but maybe once a day or so it start showing garbage on the screen and turning the screen off and back on normally fixes the problem ?

Any suggestions ?

Jean,

my guess is that there are a couple of bad solder joints somewhere in the panel and when it gets a little bit warm some connections fail or gather too much capacitance.

If that is the case you should use it if it will stay on long enough to watch a movie. The questions is how long does it take before the screen starts to flicker. Five minutes chuck it. One hour maybe use for a prototype. Two or three hours it can be used for watching a movie and then turned off for a while.

Hezz,

Sometimes it takes several hours to a full day or so before it starts doing that. There isn't a pattern to it from what I can see.

Gordon,

It's FPD1730 from July of 2003, it's all black. Give me an offer

How much do you "need" out of it including shipping to Canada, postal code T7X-1R4?

I bought a gateway off of ebay that had a problem like this and the problem ended up being a surface mount hor. output transistor. I replaced it and it's worked fine ever since.
