Just got back from CC. the sticker on the back is the same as the one on CMV1512(posted above). When I got a chance to open it up I will post some pictures of interior, so people who own 1512 or 1515 can confirm if it is the same as 1512.

Default 18Wheeler

Now that would be a great deal. The CMV 1512 has the following stats:

Response Time: 15ms
Brightness: 450 cd/mxm
Contrast Ratio: 500:1

Are those the numbers that Circuit City has for the Liquid Video NEG A150X1 For $229? If so, I'm going up there today after work and buy one also!

Tom

the interior looks the same as cmv1515. We know 1512 has the same design as 1515, but has slightly different spec. there is no way to know if the LCD in this monitor has the same spec as 1512.

funny thing is I cannot find contrast ratio stated anywhere. not on the box. not on the manual. not on the CD either.

I will post some pictures later today, once the batteries are recharged. ( I know, I should keep a set of backup full of charge )

Default Specs

I know what you mean 18Wheeler... I've been searching around all day looking for specs on this thing. Even what Circuit City's spec sheet doesn't list the specs that are important to me, like contrast ratio or response time. Here is the best specs that I've found so far:

Well I have opened it up, put on the OHP and compared with other two LCD's I have.

overall it's a good screen. a little tricky to take apart but not too difficult. It is darker that other two ( one stop lower when using my digi camera to take a shot). response time seems fine, though I didn't test with games. I showed a clip of HDTV on it. image is clear and sharp.

Here is the comparison to other two LCD's I have. Sine this one is bigger than my OHP, it's blocked on the side. also the corners are darker, which can be solved by proper tuning.

I still don't know what its contrast ratio is. but I would say it is higher than 300. the color is richest among these three. At CircuitCity, NEG 17" lcd labled as 350:1, but there was no indication on this one anywhere. The employee in CC didn't help too much neither.

as I said the screen is darker. So a good light source might be important. I use Dukane 670 which has a 575W HMI lamp.

I will see if I can take apart the famous NEC 1545 and compare it.

by the way this is the sticker on its back. It is exact the same as CMV-1512 (picture above), including the spot it's pasted:

updated comparison pictures. Now includes NEC 1545V.

Conclusion:

this Liquid video A150X1 selling at Circuitcity is a good LCD monitor for DIY. It uses the same control circuit as those in CMV 1512 and 1515. In fact, its back plate is exactly the same as the one on CMV1512. but there is no spec for contrast ratio for this model.

So far only Circuitcity carries this model. CC had sale on this one before (oct. $299 - $100 rebate - $30 Giftcard, this week $299 - $70 rebate). So watch CC sale circular if you are interested in this LCD. $100 rebate may come up again.
