I like Mingus, I'm not a Mingus authority, that's where AH UM is from. I'm from Ventura, California. A small coastal town NW of L.A. I work as a carpenter in Santa Barbara about 30 miles up coast, a pleasent commute.
I was raised in L.A., in the 'valley' SFV. Born in 1950, antiwar boho hippy. Used to surf & sail (still do a little of both) Like to hike & backpack, was on a desert binge a while back, east Sierras is my favorite gettaway. Botany is one of my hobbies. I like Music, lots of different kinds of music. It changes with my mood and interest (duh). I listen to the local college station and the NPR stations. KCRW & the one in San Luis Obispo. I'm an electrical idiot (neophite). I still can't remember the difference between parallel & series. And I want to build a gainclone, since I can't afford a gaincard! I have an ASL AQ1002 pp EL34 amp,30Wt/chnl a Music Hall turntable and my DIY folded TQWP/radio shack 40-1354 drivers and it all sounds pretty good. I'm currently building a bunch of speakers with a bunch of drivers that I aquired over the past year(s) or so including some TangBand driven ones for my friends new coffee shop. In the future I want to build some Pi4s (maybe), and or some fostex driven speakers. And the gainclone ASAP. Cheers Ron Wilkinson aka AH UM |

I mean, Ah Um. I'm so pleased to discover another Truman baby.
Did I ever get teargassed with you? Do you ever lose patience with the 30 and under crowd? Do you sometimes become appalled? Welcome to the club. I can't welcome you here, representatively, on this forum, because I just, today, threw my name in the hat, too. But hang around, we'll talk. Botany? Bless your heart. Brother of mine. I've discovered quite a bit about persuading the electron to play us a tune. Get back with me. After you get a haircut. Hippie.
