Hi!

Nice to join this group! Let me tell briefly about me: I'm 35-years-old man with a wife and two small (2 & 4-years-old) daughters. This tells already lot about where my times goes... I have a history of playing piano, and had somekind of stereo equipment for years. Now, I sold the lot a few months ago and want to have a nice, simple and hopefully good sounding equipment in the living room. So, preferably very few and slim looking, equipment that handle TV, DVD, CD, Radio and MP3 (I'm not an audiophile by any standards... I guess).

My ambition now is to build a pair of speakers - only 2 of them. I don't intend to build any kind of x.1 system, but want the two speakers to be good enough. I started by looking at the fullrange Jordan JX92S driver with a small (3 l) box around it. Did some research around the internet (and most importantly whether my wife would stand a floor standing speaker - she approved it!) and came across ProAc 2.5 Response clones, and thought there it is! Now, I intend to build the speakers with colleague group, who do this together, and just missed their ProAc 2.5 clone building project - and now they're about to build Jordan JX92S's!!! So, having done some more research on the matter I'm inclined on the Konus Essesnce clone, or VTL as it is in Jordan's website, (and again having asked wife's approval on the appearance). So, in brief that's where I'm currently aiming at. I was more inclined with the MTLT 48", but style before sound.... I'm getting to understand that you can actually slimline the 48", so maybe there's the rub!

I bought a copy of "building Hi-fi speakers" and have skimmed it to some extend - and it has given me quite a few answers, but still need to go further with it. Unfortunately it's quite techical....

I'm also looking to get a receiver once I get the speakers done, but as I have next to none experience with the impact of amps on sound (for my ears) I'm currently thinking in the lines of Marantz SR4021 or Cambridge Audio Azur 640A V2 with separate tuner, or NAD C720BEE, which are in the range of my budget.

Welcome to the forum.

As a FR kind of guy, the JX92 has more appeal to me than a multi-way. GMs 48" ML-TL is good, and in its triangular format particularilly aesthetically pleasing.
