I've been doing car audio for over eight years now. That setup is always changing, so things never look pretty. All that matters to me is that it sounds good
For me, home audio is just something to keep my ears occupied while cleaning, doing finances, messing around online, etc. My setup really sucks. Seven years ago I made some speakers out of some leftover Kenwood subs (that were marketed as playing up to 3,000 hz hehe), Dayton silk tweeters, and crossover parts bought from the Radio Shack superstore. Enclosures were simply the manufacturer's Vb, Fb, and Dv for car audio use. Needless to say these 12" woofers with 4 mm xmax (normal for home audio but unheard of in car audio) do not hit the lows at all!!! This was before I knew anything about shielded speakers. Now I am wanting to make some new home speakers. I have some Dayton Aluminum 7" woofers laying around that could be used with the Silk tweeters. Neither are shielded. When contacting Parts Express about which size bucking magnets I would need, the guy kinda convinced me to not do it that it would be too hard to properly line up the magnets and keep them together until the adhesive cured. I guess I need to spend some money on new drivers...... Anyway I'll be honest I registered because I got pissed that I couldn't see any of the pictures that were posted. I guess your plan worked ![]() T |

I can move your post to car audio or speakers if you like.

Termpro offers nothing for me...SPL is fun sometimes, but I can't justify that for a daily vehicle, it's just noise...so they don't really offer anything that I'd like
I recognized your name from CA.com, that's why I mentioned that...I'm a moderator over there, but I'm taking a break as it's really gone down the tubes as of late. That, and I've been bitten by the home audio bug hard in the past year
