Greetings,
I am new to this forum, I was pointed to it by a reply to a post
On the vinyl engine forum.
This looks like a helpful community, I glad I’m here.
I’ve been poking around here for a few days.

I’ve grown up around good audio.
My father had Tube gear. Late 50’s vintage Harmon Cardon integrated amps.
He built his turntable – A Fairchild 412 with an ESL tonearm.
In the early 60’s he made a passive subwoofer and satellites.
(Wish he had gotten a patent)
In the early 70’s he put new JBL drivers & crossovers in the satellites.
He was into the gear, I was into the music. I used the system more than he did.
It sounded fantastic. He didn’t care for my music.
(Jethro Tull, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Steely Dan, Zeppelin)
Talk about poetic justice, my 17yr old son puts some stuff on
that makes me cringe. He turns the sub up to unnatural levels.

When I moved out in the late 70’s I went the Dynaco route.
Pat 5 preamp kit and the 416 power amp. (what a beast! Big transistors!)
I’ve used the Dynaco gear for the last 27 years.
I‘ve just recently re-kindled my audio hobby.
The Pat5 is retired, The 416 feeds the whole house audio.
I have Outlaw mono-blocks feeding a pair of Dynaudio speakers.

My intent is to make my own speakers, (woodworking is one of my hobbies)
And ultimately get into tube amps. All in good time.
I’m currently re-discovering my vinyl.

Thanks for being here,

Mike

I saw that tour, too. Easily the loudest show I've ever attended, painfully so.

Well I caught the 'Works' Tour in '77 or '78 (don't remember which :drink: ) in Columbus OH at the State Fairgrounds Coliseum.

WHOA!
They played some Genesis tracks (no "Invisible Touch" crap!) over the PA before the show started.

Welcome to diyAudio Bigboris!

Cheers
Wayne
