Default Hello All

A little about me. The bhk stands for Bascom H. King. I am a past reviewer for the long defunct Audio magazine. I currently measure amps and preamps for SoundStage! on-line mag, measure digital audio devices and do test equipment reviews for Pro Audio Review, and write reviews for The Audiophile Voice.

I am a degreed Electronics Engineer from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo '61. I have consulted for a number of high-end audio firms in the past including BGW, GAS, Sumo, Counterpoint, Conrad Johnson, and Infinity Systems. Currently, I have been consulting with Genesis Advanced Technologies working with Arnie Nudell in the design of their loudspeakers.

I have been very interested in the subject of switching amps having my first brush with that subject at Infinity where I helped to work on the reliability of their amp, the swamp. That one was really a first, switching at 500 kHz with bipolar output devices. I have got my hands on many of the current efforts, measured and listened to them. I rather like the smallest IcePower ASC200 unit. Most recently, I found out about the chip amp craze. I got the deluxe LM3886 mono kit from Chipamps.com and built it up about a week ago. It actually sounds pretty dammed good and definitely better with the shunt feedback cap omitted.

a major passion of mine is the classical guitar. I have been playing at that since the mid 50s. Recently, I have been going to Spectrum Gym and getting myself in somewhat better shape.

I look foward to learning about the multitudinous things going on in this group and could possibly contribute a thing or two.

BHK

Sounds like you'll be able to add more than just thing or two. Nice to have you on board. I'll look for your posts.
