Default Hello from Eastern Ontario

This is a great forum, I'm learning... slowly.

I'm an artist. I make "interactive sculpture" from cast-off electronic stuff by coupling the pieces together with embedded computers. I think the highest voltage I have ever used is 48VDC.

To make a long story short:
- people give me stuff which goes in my barn.
- my fifteen year old daughter gets a nice Gibson SG and forms a band.
- I built her a nice practise amp using Transistors! (forgive me I did not know). She tells me it does not "sound right" even after I showed her that it was very HiFi on the scope.
- In my barn are lots of old tube radios and some new-in-the-box tubes.
- I am building her a tube amp

Thats my story so far.

Now we will have to judge things on their artistic merit as well.

Welcome aboard

Welcome to the forum. You will find that the "Tubes" forum is a very friendly place - and your daughter was right. (But you are forgiven.)
The loudspeaker: The only commercial Hi-Fi item where a disproportionate part of the budget isn't spent on the box. And the one where it would make a difference...
