Hello from Portland, Oregon, USA

Hi all,

My name is Paul. I am a software engineer/designer/analyst. I live near Portland, Oregon, 90 miles from the west coast of the USA.

I am interested in building speakers for home theatre, and for live music, starting with a 4X10 bass guitar cabinet. I need to learn electronics to build the crossovers and maybe amplifiers. This looks the place to learn!

Hi, Paul. This is indeed a great place to come to for questions, for getting people's opinions and experience, and to commiserate when things don't go right. Have you bought any basic books on speaker design and testing yet?

No I have not bought any books about it yet. Can you recommend any? I worked in a speaker factory once decades ago, but did not develop any of the designs, so I could use some instruction.
