Default Greetings from down under...

Greetings from the Sunshine State down under.

I'm an expat pom who has been living in Perth, WA for nearly 10 years.

Hi-fi was one of my main hobbies in my early 20s, and I still possess the original equipment I had which has been upgraded in various ways, forming two systems as follows:

Main system:

Source : Marantz CD60SE (1997 vintage)
AMP : Mission Cyrus 2 iteg.amp with PSX power supply (1990)
Speakers : Audiosound 8033A Minuet Mk111 speakers + matching stands (around 94-95 vintage)
CD filer : Francinstein imaging filter (from perfect pitch music)

The speakers are an Australian model with an almost obscenely deep Y (depth) dimension (X being width and Z being height).

Second system:

Source : Marantz CD50SE (1997 vintage)
AMP : Denon PMA250SE iteg.amp
speakers : Mission Cyrus 781 with matching stands
Tape DecK : Denon DRM600

The Cyrus 2/combo is in almost perfect condition - I have had this since 1990 and it looks as though it has just come out of the factory.

The Audiosound speakers also I think are rather unique in that the depth of the cabinets gives them a distinctive appearance.

Well, i found this site and thought i'd join up, so hello to everyone.

Cheers

Richie.

Welcome. You will find that there is lots of DIY activity in Oz...

Default What's inside?

Hi Richie

Greeting from Qld...............

Have you ever opened your CD50SE or CD60SE?

I would be really interested to find out what capacitors have been used and if the values are different to the standard models.

Default Hi All

G'day Fellow Aussies & DIYer's,

I am from Taree, NSW originally, now living in Sydney metro area.
Have just rekindled my interest in electronics, to which i have have modded my PC, built my first amp, and nearly finished my Ipod "Maxi" , an old PC.
I love metalwork and woodwork, and all techo stuff.
Can i post a pic of my amp, and where should i do this?

Dazza,

If you go to the top of this page and click on "top" (underneath the logo) you will find 5 areas to post your amp.

Cal
