Welcome!
What's the recepie for fine, audiophile grade recording?
Well just like cooking recipes, everyone puts their own spin on the ingredients and cooking methods.
My preference on general recording is use a very nice preamp and microphone. Then work with plugins instead of outboard gear.
I do have a little "trick" however.... I have a tube buffer with some beautiful sounding 1960's vintage Phillips tubes that I like to run the mix through afterward. I like the warm coloration it adds and how it really seems to make everything pop in the mix.
