Welcome to the forums. :)

Have you done any DIY before? As you can see from the various threads, there are lots of Indians on these forums, and quite a few experienced ones in B'lore. What specific plans do you have for your speakers? Also, you'll need an amp too, I guess. Actually, you'll need an amp per channel, which may mean either two or six amps. Lots of fun doing DIY if you pick up this as your project. :)

hi thanks for replying . we did do a diy at a friends place, we took output from creative 5.1 and had our own amplifier on the breadboard , but the big prob were the drivers as we didnt have too much money and had to buy some low end speakers and believe it or not we used cardboard boxes for enclosures , but even with such a rudimentry design we were quite surprised at the sound quality and now we want to do another diy at my house and so thought it would be better to learn a few more things abt enclosure design and come up with a really good system(5.1), we would really like to now abt places in b'lore where decent drivers r available and also any library with a good collection of books on u know wat

thanks

Mud pots.

Have you tried a 12 inch 'matka' with a full range 8 inch or 6 inch with some sound absorbent inside ?
Use cotton available with the mattress walla. You will be in for a surprise.
We used dual cone Philips drivers - about Rs140 now( US$3/-).
Cheers.
