Default Wim from Holland, living in Portugal

Hi,

I ran across this forum after building a box around a chinese print that actually brings the Wharfedale's 10.0 speakers to live.

My background is in ICT, started in 1976 quit in 1988, then turned to Meditation, vegetarian cooking, rebuilding meditation centers (carpentry and electricity) and homeopathy, now slowly landing back on this planet and the beaches around Lisbon again. Classical music and good quality sound systems are popping up once more.

Aim is to build / setup some sound systems for meditation classes and talks. After visiting Fátima in Portugal it became obvious that speech and religious songs can be heard from any place without echo or distortion, both indoor and outdoor. But then again, that group has some serious money to spend.

The concept and practicality of earth and grounds never stops to intrigue and confuse me. Any help in the form of good books, websites or threads are highly appreciated.

Have had serious migraines for many years and after exchanging the power wires of the computer, desk lamp etc for twisted and shielded cables with earth, most of the issues vanished. So I am curious to know if and how grounding, twisting and shielding of cables affects sound quality.

The forums seem to be a world in itself. Most of the electronics is way beyond me 4 now.

Thanks to all for all the efforts in sharing enthusiasm, experience, insights and knowledge.

Wim
