Registered for this forum with a purpose. I am a music enthusiast and enjoy listening to my music clean and clear. That being said I am not a techy with regards to audio equipment and have a question about component speaker crossovers. I have a set of Alpine SPX 17 Pro's but the crossovers have left my posession. Can I use any quality crossover to separate these or do I need to stay with the specific crossovers supplied with the speakers originally? I appreciate your time and consideration.
Tim, first, welcome to DIY Audio!
There's a wealth of useful (and conflicting) information in the "multi-way" forum, including a long thread, http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/mult...designing-crossovers-without-measurement.html
I'd start there. . .

Doesn't have to be genuine Alpine crossover, can be a DIY version of their circuit, or you try to make your own circuit.
Here is the Alpine circuit schematic, page 11. You can copy it with your own parts.

Crossover question
I am new to here as well. I refurbished some old DFS speakers with these parts a few years ago View attachment Crossover Rweeter Bros.pdf . Could some one tell me what the resistor is for in the tweeter circuit? I am going to try to upgrade another set of the same cabinets with new components. I was just curious. Thx
