Default Newb doesn't know where else to post

I have two speaker units that I would like to cut in half and reassemble back to back. I would like to have an internal amplifier that uses home 120v. It might be nice to have integrated volume control. I was also thinking that it would work best with a mini jack so it could plug into my phone or computer.
