I found this group while doing some research for a new project of mine: trying to build up a decent audio system for the family.
I've never had what you could call "serious audiophile" equipment, and in any case I don't have the spare cash or the desire to plonk down €5k on a power amp alone…
And besides, I have some spare time on my hands at the moment and enjoy tinkering with things, and I think it would be a good opportunity for me to get back into hobby electronics.
I have a Raspberry Pi with RaspBMC on it. I have a small milling machine and just about enough skill and tooling to be comfortable drilling, polishing, brushing and grooving. And when I finally move into my new house I'll get the rest of my workshop gear in place to start soldering and metering.
So that's me: tinkerer wanting to get into DIY audio.
