diyAudio - Greetings

Hi, I'm new to this forum.
I believe some introductions are in order..
diyAudio has always been on my reading but I was hit by a flash of inspiration earlier when I had a great idea for a sound box with some of the parts I had already. By sound box, I mean a portable device with 2 channel speakers on the lid and a hefty battery and amplifier in it. It would be great if anyone has seen a similar project before?

I'm Jack and currently reading Engineering Science at university in the UK. Everyone seems very willing to help here and I hope to help you out.
