Smile Hello from North Central Ohio

Hiwdy:
I appear to be a certified organ nut!! Just recently picked up a Lowrey MX-1 in good condition. It is organ #9. In the past have had other Lowrey's, Wurlitzer, Yamaha, Hammond, Kimball & now back to Lowery. The Mx-1 features all appear to be working except for the lowest 2 flute tabs. Nothing at all from the lowest tab & not much more from next 2 low tabs. My background is aircraft electronics (USAF retired) & engineering dept of a large cable TV company. Have downloaded the 3 manuals from the Lowery site & will get them printed at local Staples store this coming week. Don't plan on taking the back off the cabinet until I have a fair idea of where to start looking for the problem. I would like to parallel the RCA output jacks so the output can be routed to a BIG pair of Sony speakers via a stereo amp. Also have a Wurlitzer cabinet that still has the leslie speaker & plan on removing that & building a remote cabinet for same. Ought to produce some awesome sound!! Ron

Smile MX-1

Tony:
Thanks for the welcome. Guess my biggest surprise about the MX-1 is the number of removable circuit cards. In all my experience over the years is ANY removable connection will sooner or later have problems. One may think that once these connections are made they will never go bad!! What a pipe dream that is in reality. In many instances I have cured problems by simply removing & reinserting a circuit card. I sure pray that will be the case with this Mx-1. Needless to say, should parts be needed they may be very difficult to find for a 31 year old organ! Just a dang shame this model appears to have been built before MIDI. I still have a Hammond & a Technics & would be a hoot to lash all 3 together. Each organ contributing it's own unique sound. If anyone else out there has had experience with the problem of the lower flutes I will cheerfully accept any & all suggestions. Ron
