Default Hello all..

My first post here, just to say "hello."

I frequent the "Tech Talk" board at Parts Express as tomzarbo. I enjoy making speakers mostly, like this 2.1 system I designed and built for my wife's brother and his wife. Small to fit in a NYC apartment. Tang band 6.5" neo sub in the bass module, I forget what in the satellites... there's a dayton neo tweeter in there for sure. I think the 3"ers are a discontinued HiVi if I'm not mistaken...

but lately have started to get a little interested in building amplifiers. I've only built a Sure 2x100 amp so far.

I didn't blow anything up goofing around with that project, so I thought I'd step up a bit...right now I'm preparing to build a much bigger 2 x 550 watts at 4 ohm amplifier with a nice spectrum analyzer display. The amp and SMPS units are both from Connexelectronic... SMPS3K6WR for the power supply and two LME49810 amp modules. A little more complicated, but I'll struggle through it.

I'm a preschool teacher in southern NJ. Those kids really take it out of me, this hobby gives me something to daydream of when noses are running, puke is flying, and pull-ups are being soiled... pretty much every day.

I enjoy DIY in general and take an Amish approach to doing it. Go slow, and do it right, enjoying the process as much as the destination or completed project. Plus it makes my money last a little longer.

Thanks for reading. It's nice to find another good DIY website on the internet. Hopefully I'll start posting some of my progress on this forum as well as my other internet home, PE's "tech talk"

TomZ
