Default Altec newbie fan

Looking forward to gaining more knowledge from the group!

Grew up next door to a guy that had built a sound-room onto the back of his house. He built very large speakers (folded horn enclosures) for clients with $$$ I was also dating one of his Daughters and frequently had the pleasure of listening to his system & those of his clients.

Anyway could never afford to buy any of the old Altec gear my friend had until the advent of ebaY etc.My current system consist of a pair of A-19's and 1505B horns w/ 288-8k drivers. Three Yamaha M-80 SS amps & Yamaha CX-1000 preamp. Using rane active crossovers in 3-way system(sold JBL sub in photos). Still trying to dial in everything not completely happy w/ low end yet. thinking about switching to different Xover w/ sub out.

Welcome to the forum. Very nice looking rig.
I'm also an Altec fan, as are a number of us here. I run and A5 system with 1005 horns and 288 divers. 416s as the woofers.

Had been using just the big horns in a two way using Rane xover (crossed at 500) w/system biamped. Recently though have experimented going three way using the A-19 horns crossed at 3.5K, low mid at 800. So far I'm not really happy, too much high not enough low not smoothly transitioning. That could and probably is due to the room for lows. Had three Rane active AC-22 xovers so I decided to try using them 3-way mono per side. Thinking maybe using a 3way single xover w/ sub out as next experiment?
